If your congressman or senator voted for the Affordable Health Care Act (“Obamacare”), then you should understand this.
A vote for “Obamacare” was a vote to cut funding of Medicare by $716 billion dollars. That is the figure given in a two year study by the Government Accounting Office that was published in July 2012.
Cutting Medicare funds to help seniors pay for medical bills will hurt every senior citizen in America both now and for years to come. Because an average of 10,000 seniors turn 65 every day for years to come, this means that there will be less Medicare money per senior for paying hospital, doctor, and laboratory bills.
This will force the federal government to start changing rules about what is and what is not covered by Medicare. The federal government will change the rules to save money and push more health care costs onto senior citizens and the relatives who help them.
This has already started to happen. The Obama administration changed the legal definitions for when a senior is in a hospital, but considered an outpatient. The difference is that when a senior is considered an outpatient, Medicare does not cover the costs of medications. The Obama administration created the problem of “SELF-ADMINISTERED DRUGS”. “Obamacare” allows the federal government to change both Medicare and health care rules to save the federal government money.
But, “Obamacare” hurts low income people, too. Oppressive financial rules in “Obamacare” forced four hospitals to close in Georgia in 2013 and 2014. These hospitals served low income communities. Now, sick, poor people must travel to distant hospitals to get health care.
Before you vote in this election, check if your congressman or senator voted for “Obamacare”. If your congressman or senator did vote for “Obamacare”, realize that your congressman or senator voted to give you and your fellow citizens these problems and more.
